yeah the shoogie wanna boogie is david matthews, which i definitely dig and do own. he does a record called “Dune” that is interesting. i’ve been looking for the rock steady cover as well. some really great sides.

Yeah I too am a big fan of CTI records. I pretty much buy any of them that I see. I first got turned on to this tune on a CTI compilation CD (I think it is called Birth of the Groove), and this was one of the better tracks. By the way, that reminds me: there is a great cover of Rock Steady by Johnny Hammond Smith on there, and also a really cheesy song called Shoogie Wanna Boogie, that, despite being really corny, has some almost unbelievably fast bass work on it. Not groovy, but interesting.
