Greetings FMF family. I’m trying to push through this snowy weekend to open up the beginning of March here in NJ. I just wanted to address a few things. I don’t get too personal much, but I’ve been getting a bunch of e mails regarding digging stories, or lack there of. Here’s the deal: I’ve been focusing on some other stuff, ie: working every Friday and Saturday nights late, so it hinders the Winter digging. I’m in the process of a divorce, so when things start to clear up, the digging stories will commence. The next thing on the menu is Mr. Eilon Paz. Eilon is an Israeli photographer who contacted me about a project he is doing on crate digging and record collecting. He’s located in Brooklyn, so it was only a train ride away for him to get here in Asbury Park. It was refreshing to meet a photographer who is equally as passionate at taking photos as I am about records. In fact, he is a huge music fan and well versed in all types of music. While we were photographing records and listening to music, he pointed out a sample from a Soul Flutes record used by the group Freak Power. You learn something new everyday. We had a great day of music, photos, and a snowy rooftop photo slash video shoot that drove us back to my loft cold, but still determined to finish the shoot. He’s a trooper and I’m happy that we were able to collaborate together today. He has a blog at the moment called Dust and Grooves , with plans on turning the project eventually into a book. I’m looking forward to that. Until then, enjoy the four diggers that have been photographed for now, and look for my interview and photos in a month or so. His photography work can be found here. He couldn’t escape my camera though, and I turned the tables on him while we were taking a break from shooting. I have a good feeling about this collaboration, details to follow. Keep Diggin’!
Here’s a few shots from the shoot, all courtesy of Elion Paz. More to follow!
