I’m always amazed at the amount of music out there these days. I feel like there are more bands who are blending different styles than ever. Take for instance, The Soul Circle Gang. Based out of Leeds in the UK, this seven piece band combines elements of Funk, Soul, Reggae, World and Jazz music together into their own melting pot of goodness. Easily able to rock crowds from smaller venues to the festival circuit, The Soul Circle Gang keeps the party going until the break of dawn. Known for their infectious grooves, impeccable improvisations on stage, while keeping the audience out of their seats and on their feet throughout their sets, TSCG have the groove to make you move. Their latest effort, “Dance With Spirits” conjures up some Soul spirits to be inspired by. Equal parts Kool and the Gang, Marvin Gaye (can you hear “Makes Me Wanna Holler” in there?) rhythms, along with elements of the Brand New Heavies, TSCG seems to be on to something. Their own brand of the groove can easily cross over from Soul Lovers to fans of jam based grooves, Jazz lovers and the like. Basically, if you like to shake your hips and dance, you will love these guys. No word on any vinyl, but my guess is that the live show is where you’ll get your money’s worth. Always nice to see and hear a band be as entertaining as this. Gives the music world a bit of hope. See them at a venue near you very soon.
