Happy Birthday Sly Stone! The iconic and ground breaking musician turns 70 today. What more can we say that hasn’t been said about this legend? He had the first hit making, interracial, mixed-gender band with Sly and the Family Stone. He encouraged us to “Stand!” and “Dance to the Music” in a time when civil unrest and a huge change was about to happen here in the United States. Sly Stone and the Family Stone were innovators and a heavy influence to many generations of musicians to follow. Their original sound has been seen and heard in a wide range of artists from The Red Hot Chili Peppers to The Roots and beyond. Sly Stone’s style of Funk, Soul, Rock, Pop and more opened the diversity door in the music industry, a standard in today’s music world. Legacy Recordings has named Sly Stone the artist of the month, and we have teamed up with them for a vinyl give away here at Flea Market Funk.
We’re be giving away vinyl copies of: Stand, Fresh and There’s A Riot Going On. This contest is for United States residents only. Sorry international readers.
All you have to do is answer this question:
What label was the Sly Stone produced “You’re The One” 45 by Little Sister on?
The first three correct answers win (1) vinyl copy (in total) from FMF and Legacy Recordings. You can not request what record you want. Please email your answers to firstname.lastname@example.org. Good Luck!
