Mama’s Gun – The Spooks b/w Golden Days

New music this Monday from the UK outfit Mama’s Gun. Mama’s Gun are no stranger to making good music, getting their music on the charts, or having hits on multiple continents, sold out concerts on stages throughout the world, and ripping up stages at festivals such as WOMAD, Greenroom, Java Jazz, and Pentaport. Grabbing accolades from Billboard, The Guardian, The Sunday Times, as well as Uncut Magazine, they’re back with new grooves from their newest release Golden Days. This new forty five from the record has two singles, both which are dope. “The Spooks”, which is a slow burner of a track, with its minimalist back beat and piano, focuses on vocals which rolls into a a nicely built track that is modern soul. It’s grown on us after a few spins. It’s no wonder they are wowing audiences all over. The flip, “Golden Days” has horns for days in the intro, then turns into a mellow, harmony filled groove. More upbeat than the A, we think that the B-Side wins again. Perhaps not the El Michels Affair/ Dap Kings sound you all may have come to get used to, this contains elements of that, influences from Al Green and the like, but wrapped up in some modern sounds as well. This one is bubbling just under the radar at the moment, so listen to both sides below and let us know what you think. We think its pretty alright, tight, and out of site.
