Kutiman – Saluf

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Kutiman, but you know it wouldn’t have been too long. He’s always up to something. Whether it be doing some digital/ video manipulation and making great tracks or putting out a myriad of different bangers on wax, you are always pleased when he puts a project forth. Last year we saw a collaboration with Turkish singer Melike Sahin and Rioghnach Connolly, a Psychedelic Jazz Lp, his collaboration Antarctica with Greenpeace, and the chill Don’t Hold On To The Clouds project mong others. The latest forty-five “Saluf” is one we think you will all dig. A full-on Middle Eastern psych jazz funk face melter, it features everything from dub to handclaps to synths to horns. It’s hypnotizing, to say the least. This has got heavy heavy monster sound written all over it. You already knew this if you were a fan of Kutiman. The shit is heavy and that can not be denied. This one is one of the tracks when the Kutiman Orchestra is playing live that really captures the ears and hearts of the crowd. So if you know you know, but if you don’t know, you’ll be really pleased with how this record can make you feel. The flip, “Badawee” is a new track. The B-Side slow burner, it starts off heavy with the drums and oozes into some synth that leads the charge throughout this second Middle eastern influenced neck snapper. It’s definitely lower on the BPMs, but packs a punch from the first needle drop. The synth arrangements are lush, and the melody takes over like a calm sea on a sunny day, your body floating effortlessly through this track. A fire double-sider from the Israeli maestro.

Listen to both tracks here.

Pre-order the record here on Siyal, available February 16th.
