Pat Van Dyke: Let’s Get Lost / Same Dream EP

One of New Jersey’s hardest-working and funkiest musicians is back once again with a unique collaboration and new music for your ears. Pat Van Dyke aka PVD teams up with Zac Colwell, better known as Fancy Colors on this Ep. Both powerhouses are multi-instrumentalists, composers, and producers, so this double down approach to their collaboration makes this one extra special. Van Dyke, who is known for his funky and jazzier productions, working with everyone from John Sci Robinson to DJ Spinna, plus providing soundtracks to HBO, Comdey Central, and Netflix, among others, has moved away a bit on this release with Colwell. The Ep, Let’s Get Lost / Same Dream, is in a different sound plane. Taking a break from these all instrumentals that he’s been churning out (and crushing with), this record goes on the side of a psychedelic pop trip. Dreamy and floating through your mind like a cloud high in the sky, PVD originally laid down this track on his vintage tape machine solo. It was after that that the talented Fancy Colors would lend the lush vocals to the track. The vocals push this side over the top, and once the breakdown (with heavy synth pulls up and the flute starts to take you away, it’s time for Colwell’s vocals to jump back in and take the listener out, floating to the next cloud of sounds. While this may be a break from PVD’s latest releases, it’s title is completely fitting. You will get lost in this track. And if you wake up somewhere miles away from your home after listening to this, put it on again and by the time it’s finished, you’ll be home again. Stream the track below and purchase after the stream.
