Monk-One: The Golden Era Part2

Well shit Monday, what do you have in store for us this week? I’ll tell you what we have in store for you, a fresh batch of beats from Brooklyn’s Ichiban, the ever-reliable Monk-One. He’s cooked up another bunch of heaters for your dome. Expanding on his Golden Era Volume one project, he takes you through reworked tracks from De La Soul, Jeru The Damaja, Black Sheep, Queen Latifah, Big L, and more. And it’s not just the beats he’s cooked up, it’s the relick with vocals laid over the tracks that will make your head nod and body move on this cold as brick day today. There are eleven tracks in all, plus a bonus jawn to make it an even dozen. You’ll have beats for days, and then some.

Flipping tracks that previously knocked hard on their own, the Brooklyn representative proceeds to give you what you need with a Monk-One twist. A reggae inspired Jeru’s “Ya Playin’ Yaself” keeps it hot as a Jamaican beach while reworkings of De La Soul’s ” Itzsoweezee (HOT)” gets downright sexy for the late-night crowd, and “Simple Beginnings” lets McCoy flex to the fullest over hard a nails drums and informs you musically that the choice is still yours. We’re partial to “Cal’s Walk”, a track that indeed strolls you out of the project with a stut and a head bop, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention “Hot Nuts” that puts The Beatnuts over a warm, sunny guitar conjouring up Brazilian vibes from start to finish. The beat is so damn hot. You can’t miss with this one. Support independent artists today. Stream the project below and purchase after the stream.
