Press Cuttings (The Private Press Compacted)

It’s hard to believe that DJ Shadow’s Private Press was released 10 years ago. Time flies so quickly, really. In that time he has toured in an orb, made Hyphy tracks, been on Letterman with Q-Tip, and played the Hollywood Bowl among other things. I think it’s pretty safe to say that anything dude touches is gold. Upon that initial release in 2002, DJ Food and Strictly Kev put out this mix that was heard on Solid Steel. A compacted version of the record itself, complete with tons of samples, Shadow interview snippets, and much more, it still sounds fresh some 10 years later. This is a great interpretation of the tracks on the record by Strictly Kev/DJ Food of your favorite DJ savior’s 2002 project. Apparently there were only 5 CDRs made, each with unique artwork. If you have one, you are lucky. For those of us that can’t get the tangible goods, you can settle for the aural experience through Soundcloud. Enjoy.
