If you are like me and have an Expedit from IKEA (I have the same one from 1998, seriously, it’s moved a bajillion times), then you might find this of interest. I’m sure when IKEA first manufactured the Expedit series, they didn’t have record collectors in mind. However after they appeared, a whole generation of diggers use the shelf system to display their digging finds: spine out and LP forward so you can see some of the gems of your collection. Now the company Rekordit (a successful Kickstarter company) has another solution: slick, professional frames that go on the front of your Expedit to display your vinyl as opposed to standing it up. Some of you may like to just display the spines, opting to see your black crack, however, some may of you may opt to transform the Expedit into some sort of cabinet. You could even use a record in the front frame to denote what genre is stored behind it. I personally prefer to see the record spines, but to each his own. Professional looking isn’t cheap, and a pack of 5 frames will cost you a cool $245. Although I will have to pass as my 5 x 5 Expedit would cost me over a grand, I’m sure if I got a 2 x 2 for listening records in my living room I’d consider it. These are pretty dope. This tip comes from the man himself, Pat James Longo aka Primitive Sound System. Big Ups to Pat for sharing.
