Dust & Grooves: Adventures in Record Collecting Book Launch Event

VINYLbook-postcard_f_1000We’ve been waiting for this day to come for over two years, the launch of the Dust & Grooves book, Adventures In Record Collecting. FMF has been a supporter of this project since the beginning, and working side by side with the Dust & Grooves team to get this project to the people is a proud moment for us. On Saturday April 19th, the project becomes a reality with a book launch event at the Powerhouse Arena. Dust & Grooves joins forces with I Love Vinyl, Dub-Stuy Records (and the Tower of Sound), Turntable Lab, and Classic Album Sundays for an opening reception of the book about the world’s finest record collectors. This event is a public celebration of vinyl record culture and photography with a photo exhibition, a book signing, a listening station, and a raffle. There will also be rotating all-vinyl sets spun by over 20 DJs featured in the book itself on an audiophile sound system.

From the Kickstarter campaign, to seeing the raw photos digitally and as exclusive prints, to the editing process, to eventually having the folded and gathered book in my hands, I’ve never been involved in a more exciting project. The amount of people involved and who have embraced vinyl culture (and continue to do it on a daily basis) is the impetus that keeps it going. Record collecting is not just a hobby, it’s a way of life. While we all may dig for different things, at the end of the day we are united by vinyl records, and that’s pretty amazing.

So save the date of April 19th, because we want to se all of you out in Brooklyn to celebrate this momentous occasion: A celebration of vinyl records, photography and the culture that
