I’ve been a busy guy the last few months. It’s not that I don’t want to talk to all off you, really. I have just been hustling, getting DJ nights in order, putting together a new website that I collaborate with James Poole on, and trying to make real world moves in general. I’m really excited about this series of events. In May James and I started a night in the Lower East Side of Manhattan called freethinking nyc, and a website called the freethinking movement. Basically we hooked back up to DJ together again after 8 years, in the same neighborhood we had met and DJ’d in before. In a nutshell, freethinking the night, is about ignoring conventions and getting down to what really matters: the music. We’re playing all things Funky from both sides of the Atlantic. James is from the UK, I’m from the US, so we have similar tastes but we play different music. It’s an interesting combination. No one says the Clash can’t reside next to Guru, or that the Smiths can’t be played next to Brazilian sounds. As long as it’s Funky of some sort, you will hear it. You may hear Jorge Ben with Prince, Queen up against the Pharcyde, Jimmy Smith and Nina Simone paired with Oasis. We believe that if the music is good, it’s in, and we want to share that. The Thursday night originally started out as a bi-weekly, but had such a good turnout hat we have gone weekly, and also have expanded to Brooklyn. I’ve done some music inspired flyers for the night, so please enjoy them. if you are in or around Manhattan/ Brooklyn on these dates, I encourage you to come out and check out some really great music. Keep Diggin!
Congratulations! God bless with your projects. Will be looking forward to it.
