Recent Big Ups interviewee DJ King Otto out of the Twin Cities has released his annual Birthday Mix. Here’s what he had to say about this mix, hot off the turntables:

“So, once a year on June 17th I turn one year older. I used to not do this ritual. I stayed 19 for a good 20 years and then last year I decided I should start acting my age and excepted the inevitable… So, in celebration of my second year as 20 I made this a-here lil mix. It was a simple process, I decided how I wanted to start it and then I went for self, just cruising through my music library with no real direction. Then I went back and slapped a bunch of birthday related soundbites and my signature (and obnoxious) “hahahas” and “King Ot ot ot ot ots” over the parts where I wasn’t mixing fast enough… What resulted is 1 hour and 16 minutes of what I hope you will find as an interesting, if not effing awesome and utterly imperfect mix to keep your heading nodding and ears perked up.”

This mix is solid as a rock. The thrill is still hot, hot, hot, hot, hot…Happy Birthday King, and thanks for this eclectic mix. From personal experience, the second twenty is better than the first. Keep on Keepin’ on.
