For this week’s Ace Hotel Live Mix, I decided to take a little trip. Mind you I didn’t plan on it, it just sort of unfolded that way. This week we jet from France with Serge Gainsbourg to Brazil with Arthur Verocai and Super Erotica, to the UK with T.Love, and finish up in Jamaica with U-Roy and Super Beagle. In between we visit some backpacking, head nodding instrumentals from Pete Rock, Thes-One from PUTS, and the ever changing DOOM, Hip Hop from PE and the Pharcyde, plus the funky Soul of Inell Young and Laura Lee.

With so much stuff going on in the world today, I wanted to take a quote from the great Fela Kuti, when he said “Music is the weapon of the future”. Any one of these songs could be used as a weapon, as music can change the world. This mix was done all live, in one take, and any pop, crackle, or skip you hear is exactly how you’re going to hear it at any of my Friday nights at the Ace Hotel in NYC.
