This morning, I woke up to a great article in the Huffington Post by A-Trak. Now, if you’re not familiar with him, here’s the scoop. A child prodigy on the turntablism scene who went on win DMC championships, moved on to be Kanye West’s DJ, and has now has a pretty damn cool label called Fool’s Gold. This dude grew up in the DJ scene and has matured into one of the best DJs around. He has taken the ultimate DJ stance: a turntablist who can rock a party with intricate routines, scratches, and beat juggling, who also produces his own tracks and can rock out a sold out Madison Square Garden with his DJ sets.
A-Trak tackles a burning question that has been making the rounds on the DJ blogs, forums, and music community lately: when is DJing not DJing and when did pushing buttons become DJing? Interesting perspective from one of the bigger and better DJs around.
