For the past few years, “The Ambassador of Boogie Funk”, Dam-Funk (that’s pronounced dame people) out of Los Angeles, CA has been spot on with his music. His Monday night party Funkmosphere in LA has been killing it with music deeply rooted in “the early-’80s styles known as Boogie, Modern Soul and Electro-FunkTake”. In other words, get your ass on the dancefloor people and don’t stop ’til you get enough. There is definitely no parking on the dancefloor, you can be a freakazoid, and watch ladies watching you. You feel me? A huge dose of Slave, Aurra and early Prince will give you an idea of what Dam-Funk sounds like. Speaking of the artist formerly known as and now back as, Prince, Dam-Funk puts out a great cover of “17 Days” in his latest effort. Living Colour has previously covered this B side, but I think Dam-Funk’s version has taken the cake. So get on your motorcycle with your purple Beatles jacket and scream. Watch out for the purple rain, dam-Funk is in the house and he is here to stay.
