Like the character in Pulp Fiction, I kept hearing about Marsellus Wallace the DJ in certain record circles. Quotes like “This guy is the real deal.”, “This guy has an unbelievable record collection”, and “Marsellus Wallace has heat” were all stuff I heard about this elusive Southern California DJ and collector. Flea Market Funk being Flea Market Funk, well, I had to get to the bottom of this. I was intrigued and excited to track down this DJ and collector who holds it down lovely in San Diego, CA as well as various other vinyl parties around the country. This man is a Library and Soundtrack music aficionado, and is well versed in the world of Funk and Soul 45s, as well as Disco’s art of moving butts. It is my pleasure to have Mike aka Marsellus Wallace in this week’s Big Ups interview. Read closely, but if you’re not careful, you might learn something.
