Video Premier alert! It’s been 20 years since the release of Brooklyn Funk Essential’s Cool & Steady & Easy record, which featured the legendary talents of Maceo Parker, The Tower Of Power Horns, Michigan & Smiley and Dizzy Gillespie among others. Well, they are back with a bang and a new record Funk Ain’t Ova which drops November 13th on Dorado Records. The album is available for pre-order today, and as a bonus for jumping on the record early, they are giving this track away. “Gabriel”, a ska/ boogie interpretation of the Roy Davis Jr. club hit. It is a bundle of positivity and energy wrapped up in a non stop dance party. If you were expecting the tune to be like the mid ’90’s original, you’re in for a treat. There is a twist, and it’s funky. Equally as good as the original, Brooklyn Funk Essentials put their own spin on this side and will have you moving and grooving all day long. For this overall effort, the band travels back to their roots, reuniting many original and past members and also get back with their original label Dorado. It’s great to see this collective back in action, spreading good vibrations and of course GREAT music all around the globe. They say funk is what you make it, and they make the best kind. Check out the track “Gabriel” below.
