Close your eyes, you are not in 2017, you’re in the mid ’60’s at some Midwest jazz club in your Saturday suit, drinking a stiff cocktail, neat, your lady on your arm, listening to the newest jazz sounds around. “Introducing The Soul Trio” takes you back people, and is a slice of proper soul jazz recorded and performed like it was meant to be. With heavy organ and a hearty drum break, this record will get the jazz funk heads up out of their seat as well. It’s proper, it’s swinging, and you will drop the needle on this over and over again. The flip, “Martha’s New Moment”, makes Lee Morgan proud. Hell, it would make John Patton proud.
