Magnum – Evolution (Beats 45 Edit)

Crate Diggers and beat heads have always referred to Magnum’s Fully Loaded LP as a holy grail. The Southern California funk band injected their music with latin vibes and served as the house band for KGFJ-AM’s Soul Search competition and the Soul Caravan (a series of weekly performances on a flatbed truck playing in and around urban Southern California) has seen their music become highly sought after over the years. But here’s the good news. The fellas over at Brewerytown Beats in Philadelphia in conjunction with Jamie/ Guyden are putting out a limited edition forty five with two tracks from Magnum. Here are some details on this very special project:

-Limited to 500 pieces
-Smoke Color and Black Vinyl (Color Vinyl NOT in DJ pack)
-DJ Doubles Pack
-Picture Sleeve
-Remastered and mixed from the original reel to reel tapes

The Beats version of “Evolution is a highly sought after version that was originally featured on rare groove compilations. The flip, “The Music Makes You Want To do It” is on 45 for the first time and features a massive drum break for all of you ‘doubles are a must’ cats. Also included is a picture sleeve, which has been a staple for many of the Jamie/ Guyden past releases, which we think is definitely cool as well. Take a listen to the original forty five below on The Phoenix (which is an equally as cool logo for all you typography heads), and then hear a snippet of both side of the record at the following link. Don’t miss out on this deep groove.

Here is the original record:

Pre-Order the record here, available May 1st.

***NOTE: THIS RECORD IS NOT OUT OF STOCK AS THE WEBSITE SAYS. Pre-Order begins 5/1.
