Cookin’ On 3 Burners – Real Life Baby

THis one has been out for a minute, but we’d be remiss if we did not give it some shine. Cookin’ On 3 Burners, the organ outfit out of Melbourne collaborate with vocalist Emmi for a funky stroll Down Under right to your turntable. This soulful track is sure to get under your skin in a good way, as you will be needle dropping it again for sure. However, the B-Side wins again for us on this 45, with a crazy, jazz funk cover of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman”. A while back, Metallica vocals were added to a swinging jazz version in a live video, and we thought that version killed it. Well, we have a new champion here, as Cookin’ On 3 Burners have done an excellent job of translating this rock classic into their own language. Great work all around, this track will not bring back some nostalgia, but really have them moving on the dance floor as well. We will forever hear Jake Mason’s Hammond screaming “Off to never never land!” and the drumming of Choi just plain killing it. This one is the real deal: two sides of banging funk and soul. Stream both sides below and purchase the record at the bottom. Jazz funk metal covers on a Hammond? Sure, why not. Here’s to them covering Danzig next….
