Just in time for an extended Summer here on the East Coast, Pat Van Dyke follows up his previous stunner Hello Summer with a new forty five that’s two sides of the soulful and funky grooves he is known for laying down. The A, “New Memories” is signature PVD, easy breezy with plenty of funky stuff to go along with it. A track that will no doubt be picked up in some sort of movie, television show, or commercial. It’s got that sound we’ve all grown to become accustomed to with Van Dyke. A laid back, warm and inviting track that keeps the summer going, but let’s us roll into fall or a solid winter day feeling alright. Both tracks were recorded at his home studio on a vintage Tascam 388 Eight Track tape machine giving both cuts that cozy, analog feel for sure. While PVD himself performed the rhythm section on his own, he enlisted the help from long time collaborators Zac Colwell (sax, ewi, and flute on “New Memories) and Matt Chertkoff (guitar on “Alright By Me”) on these tracks. Both musicians are known to play live and or in the studio with Van Dyke, so as always it’s great to see him and the extended Stereo Vision family laying down dope tracks once again. The record was stereo mastered by the always on point K-Def. Midweek or weekend, start the day off right with this new one from PVD. Play it with good friends, drink beer, make breakfast, nod your head over coffee, or break bread. This one is smooth like butta and PVD is churning it all day long.
