EDO.G – 2 Turntables and A Mic

artworks-000087264722-69qnri-t500x500Longevity in hip hop is not an easy thing. Staying relevant while keeping your street cred and rhymes consistant is not for the feint of heart. EDO.G is one of the strongest finishers in the game. Fresh off a successful Kickstarter campaign, he is set to release After All These Years, on the brand-new 5th & Union label. The record, by way of crowd funding was released way earlier than it might have been doing it the conventional way. A true testament of this hip hop legend’s fan base and loyalty, he is one of steadfast artists of our generation. It’s a special release, as his fan base were given a chance to be part of the process. On this record he is joined by producers Pete Rock, 9the Wonder, Marco Polo, Vanderslice, and Explizit One. Special guest appearances by Chuck D, Camp Lo, Guilty Simpson, and others beef up his 11th release.

After All These Years is a combination of what I’ve learned over the last 23 years in hip-hop, and in life. For me, it has been – and will hopefully continue to be – a springboard to greater things. This record marks what I would call my ‘third career’ in hip-hop. The first was ED O.G & Da Bulldogs; the second was as a solo artist in the late ‘90s; and now with my partner Jamieson Grillo and the launch of our new label, 5th & Union.”- EDO.G

One of the stand out tracks on the record, “2 Turntables and A Mic” is a journey to the boom bap of the 90’s with The Chocolate Boy Wonder on the beat box and EDO.G on the mic. Taking it back to the essence, these two legends prove why most of today’s so called rappers can’t hold a candle to them. A classic Pete Rock beat with scratches by DJ Nestle Quik, “2 Turntables and A Mic” is a head nodder that needs to be blasting out of your speakers. The album will be released on September 9th and will be available in three different formats: Limited “Orange Crush” colored 2-LP, with a gold-foiled, numbered jacket (Limited to 500); Digipak CD; and a limited orange-colored cassette. Look out for the digital release as well. More quality music coming from EDO.G. Don’t sleep.
