LA producer Steven Ellison aka Flying Lotus caught my ear a while back with his own tribute track to J.Dilla and a guest spot in the Suite to Ma Dukes Tribute. Since then, it seems like this creative force, the great nephew of Alice Coltrane has been everywhere. When not scoring his own soundtracks to classic films, producing bumper music for the Cartoon Network, remixing Radiohead, producing his own music, or heading his own record label Brainfeeder among other things, media darling Flylo doesn’t have much free time. With an upcoming album scheduled for release in October, look for even more collaborations (as he is the King of Collabos) with artists like Thom Yorke and Erykah Badu, plus a newly released collaboration effort scheduled with Beck. This could be interesting. Flylo’s music is interesting enough, and the layered walls of sounds take you on a beat filled experiment sure to soothe and cure what ails you.
