R.I.P. Dave Brubeck

One of the great Jazz musicians and composers of our time, pianist Dave Brubeck died today at age 91. His rendition of “Take Five” shifted music lovers from Pop to Jazz, and was the first million selling Jazz record. He was also the first Jazz musician to be featured on the cover of Time magazine (before Monk) and leaves behind a long legacy of music for future generations to explore and enjoy. He almost made it to 92, he was a day short as his birthday was tomorrow and he passed on the way to the cardiologist. Rest In Piece Dave Brubeck, your Time Out record was an introduction to Jazz for so many people, including myself.
