Fresh off the heels of their Favela B Boy Funk 7″, Freqnik & WDRE Remix are back with a 45 that dropped yesterday. The Strong Island duo have been re-rubbing Golden Age artists like Eric B. and Rakim, the Roots, Jeru Da Damaja, LL Cool J and more for a minute. For their second Boro Records release, they chose one of that era’s, if not the G.O.A.T in the Rap game’s lyricist, Big Daddy Kane to put their signature sound on. Gone are the long list of Marley Marl samples which you can find more about here, most prominently the James Brown “Get Up, Get Into It, Get Involved” guitar riff. However, the duo smoothed it out with some fat drums and live piano by Jimmy McGerald. Let’s not forget about the bass, it’s right up in your face. This 7″ is a great nod to the King Asiatic and his unstoppable flow and is now available in limited quantities.
