Before the Hot Peas and Butta BBQ on Saturday June 28th, #hotpeasandbuttabbq2013, the homie Skeme Richards and myself made an appearance on one of our favorite radio shows, Enjoy and Be Educated with DJ Unexpected and Hevehitta on BBOX radio in DUMBO Brooklyn. Skeme and I were spinning the BBQ (which was named Top 50 parties this Summer in NYC), and TDU were going to do an interview with The Nostalgia King. After the interview, my man got busy with some fantastic 45s from Russia, Japan, crazy picture discs from consumer products of the 70’s, radio and movie spots and more. Knowledge was dropped, Philadelphia Hip Hop history was told, and the two hours at BBOX was over before you knew it. The fellas over at TDU do a fantastic job of preserving the music, interviewing notable DJs and producers, and producing a show that looks to be exploding to bigger things as I type this. I’ll be back on the air with the guys August 17th to do an all CTI tribute, part two in their series to the great record label and its subsidiary labels. Thank God for Creed Taylor.
