Tonight: Flea Market Funk & Guests Live In Brooklyn

If you’re in Brooklyn tonight, we’ve got a special treat for you. It’s the start of a new night at the popular Sycamore Bar and Flower Shop in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn. Flea Market Funk will be spinning Funk, Soul, & Reggae 45’s from 10PM on. This intimate venue has become one of the premiere vinyl only spots in the neighborhood, with a beautiful outside patio and intimate space serving craft beer and cocktails all night. We’ll be joined by two heavyweight selectors for the inaugural night: Monk One and Ross Allen.

Monk One aka Monk Uno aka Monsieur Monk has been a staple on the NYC DJ and music scene for 20+ years. With a 30,000+ record collection, Monk goes in deep, and will be dropping nuggets that you wish you had. He has been a contributor to Wax Poetics magazine for over a decade, and is coming off an appearance at The Soul Summit in Chicago, IL. Ross Allen, one of London’s most recognized DJs, has been a radio host, an A & R guy, and known to fill in for Gilles Peterson on his GP Worldwide as well. He has some deep, diverse crates, and this set is not to be missed! You can check out his lecture at the Red Bull Music Academy from Cape Town.

This night is going to be, hopefully, one night out of many good nights at the Sycamore. We’re just trying to do a fun night with good music, no egos, and a damn good time. Feel free to join us, there is no cover, and if you could be so kind to spread the word about this unique night, we would appreciate it.
