Super Ape Gets The Deluxe Treatment

This one is for all the Reggae lovers out there. You know who you are. The good people from the excellent Boston based Get On Down label have this (one of two) great release for Black Friday, November 29th aka Record Store Day part deux. It’s the classic record by the Upsetter himself, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Super Ape. It is getting large upped like never before. They have already shown ’nuff respect and love for JA, with deluxe releases of King Tubby Meets The Rockers Uptown and Perry’s Blackboard Jungle Dub into their catalog. Now it’s time to add another. This 1976 classic, originally billed as The Upsetters gives fans a little more than the original release. Here’s what is included:

The 2-LP vinyl-only set includes all of the original music, plus:

– Three extra songs: “Rastaman Shuffle” (single edit), “Magic Touch” and “Cornfish Dub” (single edit)

– Side four of the set has no audio, but is etched with a unique Super Ape graphic

– 23” x 23” poster of album cover

Go to the Get On Down website for more information where to buy both very special Record Store Day releases.

For those not familiar, here’s a track, “Underground” from Super Ape.

Keep Diggin’!
