Flea Market Funk Guests On Enjoy And Be Educated

DJ-Prestige-Live-BBOX_470

This morning we have a special treat for you on Flea Market Funk. To honor the 50th Enjoy and Be Educated show by The Diggers Union on BBOX radio here in Brooklyn, we laid down a 90 minute, all 45 set on the airwaves. Hevehitta and DJ Unexpected have been going strong with their eclectic radio show, and it was an honor for us to be able to represent on this celebrated day. These guys got the first ever 4 hour slot on BBOX, and hopefully what was laid down from FMF was enjoyed by the masses. It was a blast doing it, and I’ve got to say they had more hospitality than most clubs! Ever the humble cats, they have a very friendly and inviting atmosphere on their show, and most definitely bring an open mind to the table when it comes to music. DJ Unexpected laid down everything from Reggae to Jazz to Dance to Hip Hop and beyond, tastefully and masterfully blended as always. He even threw in some of his signature turntablism stuff, straight up murdering Jeru’s “Come Clean”. A bonafide NYC classic. The majority of my set I dug deep into my crates to bring out some raw Funk and Soul, plus a bunch of records I hadn’t got to play in a while. There were, most certainly some sure shots you will know, and of course I have to shout out Kenny Dope for the Kay Dee track, as well as Terry over at Colemine for that great Jive Turkeys 7″ and Michael Riley for his Psychedelic Soul record by The Field Trips (representing Brooklyn USA lovely). All in all, a great time with the crew from TDU and we’re looking forward to linking up with them once again.

One response to “Flea Market Funk Guests On Enjoy And Be Educated

  1. Was indeed a great set. Man, you reminded me I gotta find that Lee Moses record. The guitar in that is so friggin’ cool.

I’m sure if you decide to do a show it’d be a success. I back that idea full force!

    Peace and SOUL,
    Dave…
