Cultures of Soul x DJ Andy Smith: Jam Up Twist Box Set

COS-2_470
Just in time for Record Store Day and two years in the making, some members of the Flea Market Funk extended family get together to release quality music. Cultures of Soul team up with the talented DJ Andy Smith to release DJ Andy Smith’s Jam Up Twist U.S.A. box set. For those of you that have had the pleasure of seeing Andy ay Madame Jo Jo’s with Keb Darge at some point over the years or attended one of his Jam Up twist nights in the UK, you know what this box set sounds like. For those of you that haven’t, the night is full of 50’s and 60’s R & B madness, sleazy Shakers, Rockabilly, and Northern Soul goodies. Deano Sounds from COS is a great DJ and music connoisseur, so the combination of the two bring you some best tunes you might hear on 7″ on any of Andy’s nights in the UK. Picked by both Deano and Andy from their collections, the box set digs deep with tunes like “Ever Again” by Gene Woodbury, some classic Rockabilly from Eddie Cash and Sonny West, and a handful rare of R&B tracks. Some of these tracks are reissued for the first time. These include Ernie Washington, Willie Jones, and many more.

The set comes with a collectible record box filled with 7 45s, an official Jam Up Twist poster, and a booklet printed on thick stock. In true Record Store Day fashion, there will be no pre-orders, and you’ll have to go to an official record store to get this baby. Get something different this year at RSD,
