Tomorrow afternoon, Eilon Paz and Flea Market Funk will take to the airwaves of BBOX radio on The Diggers Union show Enjoy and Be Educated from 1PM-3PM EST. FMF will be co-hosting with Hevehitta and filling in for DJ Unexpected, and both Eilon and I will be interviewed about the Dust & Grooves project. Flea Market Funk will be providing the music for the show, and Paz will flip the script and be playing a few records as well, something he doesn’t often get to do. He is always the one behind the lens taking photos of the records, not behind the decks playing them. This will be a special treat. Expect the usual funkiness from us and some gems from Paz as well. The show streams live on BBOX Radio, Brooklyn’s Community station out of DUMBO Brooklyn. This radio show leads up to the Dust & Grooves book launch event next Saturday, April 19th at the powerHouse Arena. Here we will celebrate the most highly anticipated vinyl record photo book (which is The Official Book of RSD 2014) on a day that celebrates everything vinyl record related, Record Store Day. With over 20 DJs spinning vinyl (including Flea Market Funk), a book signing by Paz, a pre-launch with Classic Album Sundays, and an after party, the day/night event looks to be one not to miss. Hear all about the Dust & Grooves story, behind the scenes photo shoot tidbits, and travel talks with two people from the Dust & Grooves team.
Over 5 years in the making, the project started as a passion of the photographer’s that led to a successful Kickstarter campaign which opened eyes and ears from Turkey to L.A. to this special documentation of the world’s finest collectors. The book is in high demand by vinyl heads, record nerds, and record collectors all over the globe. Not just about the records, it’s about the people who keep the fire burning for this beautiful format. Expect some real talk from both of us, candid conversation about what we have been doing for the past few years, and whatever else pops up. Who knows? This should be an interesting 2 hours of music and vinyl record talk, so set your alarm for 1PM EST and go to BBOX Radio.
