It’s great to hear a teaser from this next installment of Madlib’s Beat Konducta series. Having already tackled music from Africa, India, imaginary soundtracks, and a Dilla tribute among others, Madlib takes you on another musical journey on Rock Konducta. This time, he hits underground Rock scenes from the 1960’s to the 1980’s. Nothing is safe! From American psychedelia to German Krautrock to acid-soaked Spanish Prog-Rock and synthy, early-80s oddities, Madlib draws inspiration and lays down his signature sound throughout. This is a killer chapter of the series. Madlib has taken on a lot of genres throughout his career, so we should not be surprised he has found gold in different varieties of Rock music. If you are like us, you’ve dabbled in the Kraut Rock crates a bit, maybe even hit up some Psych once in a while. You may have even searched for some Brazilian fuzzy records too. Madlib just takes this to a whole new level. That’s why we dig Madlib and what he has stood for his whole career: progression. He is not content on just rhyming. He is not content on mastering one genre. He goes for every new project with a zest and zeal that few artist possess. And he delivers. He’s always just kept moving forwards always in all ways. It’s nice to take a break from the norm once in a while. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy some other sounds. This may inspire you to look for some gems in your own piles and discover sides you never knew you had. Another Madlib Invazion successful.
