As 2014 comes to a close, Flea Market Funk goes out like we always do, with a month long residency at our home away from home, Ace Hotel NYC. The Ace has always been a special place to us. From our first gig playing 45s at a pop up flea market in the lobby to opening up for Q Tip and playing alongside bands we grew up on who now DJ (Andy from The Smiths), it’s by far one our favorite places to DJ. You see, the Ace lets a DJ be a DJ. We all have different personalities, play different records, and they pride themselves in hosting a variety of selectors each month. So tonight, and every Friday in November we will be playing our special brand of funky. We will be bringing raw funk and soul, funky jazz, quality hip hop, real reggae, and everything funky in between. The needle drops at 8pm, and we will be behind the decks until 2am. It’s FREE to get in, and if you’re hungry, The Breslin serves food until late. Try the burger, you won’t regret it. So if you’re in or around The Flatiron district tonight or any Fridays in November, pop on over to see us spinning in the lobby. From Lou Donaldson to J.Dilla, we will be playing Tasty Beats all night. The Beard and the Beat is back at the Ace.
