The end of the year has been a special time here at Flea Market Funk. We finally got our Live From Greenville Studios podcast/ radio show up and running out of the lab, and have had the unique pleasure of interviewing some great subjects on the site as well as other places. Firstly, my interview with Questlove of the legendary Roots Crew and Tonight Show fame is featured in the second edition of The Dust & Grooves: Adventures In Record Collecting book. This edition is available right now, and includes a new photo essay of Questo by Eilon Paz as well as the interview by me. I also got to interview another great musician/ DJ over the course of the last year or so, Ollie Teeba from The Herbaliser. Some of you are familiar with this ground breaking UK band who made their name on the Ninja Tune label. If you’re not, we suggest you get familiar, as their combination of jazz, hip hop, funk, soul, and beautifully crafted beats has kept them relevant since their inception in the early 1990’s. I was fortunate enough to get a chance to talk to Ollie about his love of records, crate digging, his obsession over soundtracks, sampling, and much more. Please enjoy!
