Give The Drummer Some!

Hoping everyone had a healthy holiday, but we are keeping it moving over here at Flea Market Funk. This weekend will be a busy one. We’re kicking off the post Christmas Friday over at The Leadbelly in NYC, where we will be laying down some greasy organ funk, soul screamers, and other delicacies in one of the city’s hidden gems. Come for the music, stay for the music and the great drinks! On Saturday night we move to a new spot, the recently opened Porta here in our own backyard, Jersey City aka Chilltown USA (I have no idea who gave it that nickname). In the past we have done some successful nights for the Smith Group (who owns these venues), so we are definitely excited to get back into rotation in their newest hot spot in one of the up and coming places here in NJ. Jersey City has been getting a lot of press lately, and we’re delighted to get into the night life mix. Porta is a casual atmosphere, serving food and also some great music courtesy of DJ Prestige and Flea Market Funk this particular night. We’ll be serving up quality, classic hip hop, raw funk & soul, real reggae and a healthy dose of drum breaks to keep it moving all night from 11pm-2am. It’s free, so of course if you’re in the area, stop in and say what’s up. See you in the crates.
