Bridge City Hustle – Show You My Heart

BCHpresshotLOGOBrooklyn based modern soul band Bridge City Hustle have been busy. Besides playing a ton of shows, a current Midwest run (aptly named The Overtime Tour), they’re ready to get their forthcoming sophomore record out of the gate. We are lucky enough to have gotten the first single “Show You My Heart”. This dedicated quartet has already been featured on NPR’s Soundcheck as well as the CW 11 PIX show City Sounds and they’re gaining momentum. Their second effort is looking to drop sometime Spring 2015, and we are eagerly awaiting some new music from one of our favorite modern soul bands. For now, we’ve got this single to hold our soul cravings over until the full length gets here.

“Show You My Heart” is a soulful strut with tender lyrics of affection and adoration. An open letter penned straight from the heart, lead singer Johnny Burgos smoothes it out on the love tip. Hints of Stevie and some falsetto parts put together this modern soul side with an old soul feel. It’s Johnny’s account of new love, and what goes with it. It’s great to see Tri-State bands like Bridge City Hustle and The Jack Moves laying down some soul music, like the piles of 45s we have from NYC/ NJ/ PA labels that filled juke boxes in the mid ’60’s and early ’70s before polyester and platform shoes took over. Soul music is alive in Brooklyn today. We are feeling this effort from the fellas, and you will too A hard working soul band with the moxy to get their brand of splendid soul music out there, keep an ear out for the new record and of course some more 45s. Check them out at a venue near you.

Keep Diggin’!
