Ike Turner & The Kings of Rhythm – Funky Mule + Edits

Ike Turner_Funky MuleFor those of you who like their records funky, Dinked Records has something for you. They’ve got together and put out a nice reissue of one of the funkies Ike Turner & The Kings of Rhythm records around: “Funky Mule”. Originally sampled by everyone from Goldie to Pizicatto 5 and more, this track gets the forty five treatment from Dinked (capitalizing on those nasty drum breaks) as well as a re-edit from Vancouver’s Nick Bike. Both tunes smash it, and if you like your drums hard “like three day old shit” to quote Phife, you’ve come to the right place. With an extended break and a skipless scratch loop for the faders, this one is money in your pocket for the dance floor. It’s great to see that the lads resurrected this one, it is most certainly a classic. The original, taken of the seminal record A Black Man’s Soul is most definitely worth a shot between the Salt and Black Sheep of The Family 45s you pull out when you need to get some heaters going. This record has not been on 45 until now! Check out the record below, and order because there on a limited run. Hope you dig both sides as much as we do.
