Kind & Kinky Zoo – Wonder Zebra b/w V.L.A.M.

Wonder Zebra 45While Kanye was busy trying to figure out how to make his new record more appealing to the masses, musicians like Kind & Kinky Zoo were taking a ride on some ancient rocket ship and coming up with a 45 side that is available on Rocafort Records June 10th. An afrobeat meets psychedelic banger that has been picking up speed throughout the globe from DJs, radio, and the Rocafort massive, both sides are a delight to the ears. Their previous work on the Australian TV series the Offspring (Channel Ten) has propelled them into the spotlight, and they continue to move forward always in all ways with this side. Made up of Olivier Bill (flute), Marc Siegenthaler (Keys), Pierre-Henri Beyrière (Bass & Fuzz Guitar), and Sylvain Rütti (Drums), Kind & Kinky Zoo get fuzzy whenever they can, and their diverse influences draw from the aforementioned genres (afrobeat and psychedelia), as well as garage, rock and roll, and more. This is high octane music, so you will need to keep up. A freakout on all levels, so get ready for that trip. The flip, “V.L.A.M.” which was remixed by Adam Gibbons aka Lack of Afro is reminiscent of 60’s dance floor jazz as well as those lovely 90’s acid jazz tracks we all fell for and sweated to over and over. Gibbons who is as talented as they come, adds his Midas touch to this side and comes up with another top choon. Flute heavy, like a sunny Sunday, the B-Side is a winner once again. We will be playing this record out a lot, so it’s definitely FMF approved. Two very different sounding sides to get people moving is what we like. Get on this record before it’s gone. Rocafort Records is always pushing boundaries, whether it be African music, boogaloo, soul, or funk, they keep it diverse. There is nothing wrong with that. Add this one to the growing pile of bangers. Listen to the tracks below.

Get the record, out June 10th, here.

Keep Diggin’!
