It’s that time of the month again at Friends and Lovers in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Flea Market Funk and Monk One invite you to their monthly party that you can shake to. We both dig deep into our forty five stashes to bring out the best of deep funk, proto disco, disco, New York classics and more that keep the dance floor packed and moving all night long. We get a wide variety of people, from B-Boys to disco dancers, to funk heads, to crate diggers, and more who go for good vibes, great music, and a safe space to express themselves. Following the philosophy of NYC legends such as David Mancuso (RIP), Nicky Siano, Larry Levan, and more, we have built up a packed out party in just a few months. Keeping it on seven inch (for now), it challenges both DJs to dig deep, keep it fresh, and keep it moving. Last month we heard tracks from Donna Summer, Herbie Hancock, Malcom McClaren, Tom Tom Club, and deep funk selections, among others. This month, we are both back with some new tunes for the people, so get down to Brooklyn on Saturday night and please, bring your dancing shoes. See you on the dance floor.
