Well we finally made it to the weekend, and if we are going to go off for two days and have a good time we might as well have a good soundtrack. This one is courtesy of Kill Emil, DJ and producer from Athens, Greece by way of Brazil and this double A side of heat in “O’ Jogo” b/w “Tambo”. This record is the fourth edition of Cold Busted’s reggae and dub 7″ series and Kill Emil just slays it perfectly. The first A, “O’Jogo” really puts down some heavy drums hip hop style (He was originally inspired by Gangstarr to start chopping up drums ten years ago; thank you Preemo) that has that Caribbean/ island/ afrobeat vibe, complete with some funky horns and chanting. This one could have been a long lost track, it’s got that feel for sure. The flip, aka AA, is “Tambo” Here we get into a slick latin vibe. Is it a salsa track? Who cares! It is a dance floor filler (aka killer) with a piano line that just doesn’t quit. Whatever you want to call it, it’s a tropical side shot out of a cannon that will not be stopped at any cost. Proceed with caution because this will whip the crowd into a frenzy. Pick up the needle and put it on the side again and again. One time Cold Busted doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. Don’t sleep on this record, it will be gone like Summer.
The record is sold out on bandcamp, but is still available at better record stores world wide.
