Coming in like the winds of the lake in winter, Tensei aka Midas Wells and Chris Kramer drop a project that has soul music meeting electronic with a. hip hop perspective fused with vibrations on the positive tip; modern soul with many dimensions. They have enlisted a who’s who of music including Malaya McCraven, Greg Spero, and Junius Paul, as well as Najite Agindotan (mentored by Fela Kuti), Liv Warfield from Prince’s New Power Generation, Sam Trump, Sulaiman, Jimetta Rose and long-time collaborator ADaD. “Liquid Tongues” is a slow burner of electronic soul featuring a harp that is summed up in one word: beautiful. Featuring A.Billi Free, it’s one of our favorite tracks of 2019 so far, and we dare you to listen to it just once. You can’t. It calls for the repeat (we’re on a half dozen times at the time of this feature). Tokyo Dawn has started off the year with some heat, and Tensei are just what we need in these times. We are ready for the vinyl release, so let us know when that is happening TD! We’re serious, this needs a vinyl release ASAP.
