For those who love new interpolations, remixes, edits, or reinterpretations of classic tracks, we’ve got another set of winners for you today. Cookin’ On 3 Burners, who have taken on tracks from bands like Metallica and others and have elevated them to a higher plane through the funky Hammond organ are back once again with a pair of covers done in their funky Hammond style. They’ve grabbed two classics in Gorillaz “Feel Good Inc.” and Gary Numan “Cars” and just broke right out the gate with these killer tracks. “Feel Good Inc.”, a certified banger in its own damn right gets funked up by this Down Under outfit. Stripped down to the basics, it is raw and uncut with a tempo that can get dance floors moving, It’s funk here people, and done only like Cookin’ On 3 Burners wants it done: heavy. Bonus for the flute parts throughout, they really smoke as well. We’re feeling this (pun intended) and look forward to spinning it out. It’s funky, quirky, and an odd duck track that works oh so right. The flip, a track that we wouldn’t think might get covered in this style goes with the flow nicely. No vocals on either, but “cars” is a cover that we think Gary Numan would approve. Like reggae music, funk has its own class when doing covers, and left field, out of the way tracks, albeit classics in other genres might not fit in with the funk. Cookin’ On 3 Burners squash that with a quickness. “Cars” is a hit people. Not just for the ’80’s, but for 2019 as well for a whole new audience of groovers of all ages.
