Boca 45 feat. Craig G: Turn It Up Loud!

2020 is starting up lovely for the DJ/ Producer and mature B-Boy Boca 45. With a quickly sold out seven entitled “Powerful” that dropped in January, he’s back again in March with legendary NYC emcee Craig G and “Turn It Up Loud!”. G’s career has spanned thirty years and has been on Marley Marl classics such as “The Symphony”, “Droppin’ Science”, and more. A voice from NYC’s golden age and hip hop royalty, Boca got the man on this latest banger which will fit nicely into your sets near some other big drum beaters.

When I reached out to Craig he was well up for the collab and I mentioned I wanted a track that tipped it’s hat to those late ’80s Juice Crew classics but updated for 2020 dance floors. Hard and heavy on the drums with funky good time rhymes.

As with many of Boca’s records, they are sample-heavy and dance floor friendly. Giving nods not to just The Juice Crew, but to that ’80s dope hip hop sound, the man has a knack for getting the people moving with his releases. Packed full with high energy and drums for days, the combo of Boca x Craig G is a winner. But of course, it’s not done, as the Double A-side “Blow Your Mind” is another high stepping, big energy soul record that personifies the Boca sound (Think “Diego’s Theme”) and contains plenty of breaks, bits and bobs for the turntablists to get busy with (so make sure you have two!). Put out on white wax, this record is again another winner. From Bristol, UK to NYC, he’s dedicated to the art of moving butts, and move they will with this double-sider. Check out a sampler of the record below, and order after the stream. Boca Boca Boca Boca Boca!
