We love to promote a a good contest here at Flea Market Funk, but we love them even more when we’re involved in judging. We’ve got a good, old fashioned remix contest with Bobby J from Rockaway, Daru Jones, and Fat Beats that coicides with their latest release One Mic & One Drum. The two go back to the essence on this one, a stripped down to the core record features the two with one microphone and one drum making beautiful music for the world to hear. They are also joined by a few special guests along the way because it’s that kind of party. What’s even better, is that they’re inviting people to put together a remix of the track “Look What I Become”. It’s open to pretty much anyone. From DJs who can add cuts, singers who can add harmonies, musicians and producers who can add whatever they like to the track. Like Black Sheep said: “The choice is yours….”. Get creative, get funky, get live, and get loud.

Here’s what you need to do to enter the contest:

-Download the track or record your talents ovee the existing track-It must be sample free and submitted at a 320 Bitrate .mp3 or WAV file.

-Your remix will be judged on creativity, originality, and mixing.

-Following your submission, you’re required to 1) post a video to Instagram playing your remix 2) Follow @bobbyjdarujones and 3) tag #OneMicAndDrumChallenge.

-All submissions are due no later than Friday, Aug 14. The top five remixes will be shared on Instagram on Tuesday Aug 18 through @bobbyjdarujones, @darujones, @bobbyjfromrockaway, @fatbeats and @fleamarketfunk where the public will then decide on the winner by commenting with their favorite remix. The winning remix will be announced via Instagram on Wednesday, Aug 19.

The winner will be included as part of the One Mic & Drum Remix EP, which is due out this year, and they’ll receive a $100 gift card from Fat Beats.
