Rocafort Records are at it again, and after their success with two box sets of Nuyorican audio delights, they are moving on to another region of the world. You see, Rocafort are audio miners, that mine these regions for audio gold. The truth is, they always find it. Whether it’s funk, soul, reggae, library music, and beyond, they have the knack for putting out unheard of vinyl records of all kinds. They’re traveling to Peru for this next project, one ripe with boogaloo and salsa music. This box set will put together six sides from Alfredito Linares. These come off his first two long players. Both of these cookers, El Pito Y Otros Exitos from 1968 and Yo Traigo Boogaloo in 1969 were originally released on Manuel Guerrero’s MAG label and have been highly sought by collectors and DJs for many years. Showcasing Linares’ talents as a composer, arranger, and pianist, we get a sneak listen to three tracks on the box set: “Cool”, “Yo Traigo Boogaloo”, and “Sin Tu Querer”. As authentic as one can get, these extremely hot tracks capture the authentic sound and feel of the con tremendo swing era. Super excited to put this one on the turntable as it’s just that good.
