The Kevin Fingier Collective: Latin Dynamite b/w El Basement

Starting off the week with a BANG! and we’re not joking here, we’ve got some heat from Latin America, specifically Argentina. The Kevin Fingier Collective return with an extremely hot double side of jazz funk goodness for your ears. Coming off the heels of the smash single “Don’t Wanna Cry No More” this one ends the year off on a high note not just for producer/ musician Fingier, but for funky forty-fives as well. The A-Side, “Latin Dynamite” is a great combination of mod jazz and boogaloo with a mid-1960’s feel to it. Cinematic and jazzy, Fingier has injected the funk in there as well on the Acid Jazz imprint Fingier Label this record appears on.

I don’t want this label to be something strict, I want to explore the whole universe around Soul music, what happened before and after, and what happened at that same time, when people from other countries such us Puerto Rico, Brasil or Nigeria mixed their cultural music with Soul, Jazz and Funk.

The B-Side is stunning as well as Fingier and company keep it moving with “El Basement”. This one has plenty of organ and a flute solo that puts it over the top. With the horns blasting and the drums pounding this dance floor freakout is proof that the B-Side wins again. Fingier pushes the track and squeezes every last drop out of this one, so much that you’ll drop the needle on it again to dance wherever you’re sitting. This one is in limited quantities, so grab it while you can! Stream below and more info after the stream.
