If you haven’t been paying attention to Preservation throughout his career, then you’re missing out. During his 20 years plus career as a DJ and Producer, Preservation has worked with the best in the business. As a tour DJ for Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def), he production credits include Yasiin Bey, Ka, Mach-Hommy, RZA, GZA, Raekwon, U-God, Sean Price, MF Doom, KRS-One, Lord Jamar, Ed O.G., Roc Marciano, Jean Grae, Aesop Rock, Chris Dave, K’naan, Jim Jarmusch and Sonic Sum. Wrapping up the Eastern Medicine, Western Illness album, Preservation comes correct with a new, short film that is a visual medley feat. A.G., Ka & Grande Marshall. Directed by Jonathan Chekroune and created by Preservation, this film is a beautiful way to end the project. Filmed on location in New York City, there are some visually pleasing locations featured (The New York Chinese Scholar’s Garden at Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden Staten Island, NY) and much scenic imagery throughout. Combined with the accompanying music featuring Ka, Grande Marshall, and A.G., this is a film that will go down as one of the best shorts of ’21 no doubt. If this film is just the intro to the record, you’re in for much delight with the rest of the project. A great start to the year and a better finish for Preservation on Eastern Medicine, Western Illness. More information and a link to purchase the album below. Look further with your music, dig deep, and you’ll find something like this. Preservation is a visionary artist with his music and films. We’re looking forward to seeing what’s next.
