Conjuring up the smell, sounds, and feels of late Spring and Summer, Brainstory returns once again with a double-sided forty-five that will mellow the mood and have you dreaming of those starry nights and a Summer breeze that makes you feel fine. Pulled off of their upcoming Lp of mostly instrumental tracks on Big Crown entitled Ripe, those fans who have been chomping at the bit to get more from this incredibly sound band since Brainstory will be satiated for a little while with the release of this seven inch. While the A-Side was written during the early stages of quarantine and carries a message of optimism and hope for a better day in spite of the hardships going around with the pandemic. It channels some serious Roy Ayers vibes and feels.
Flip the record over and you get “Bye Bye”. This ballad goes deep. It is a sweet soul through and through and will for sure be a go-to record on the soul scene in years to come. Blending a little bit of soul, psych, and jazz into the track, it stands out in the crowd. Just like Brainstory does. It’s great to hear them back at it, and we are looking forward to the full length when it drops. This is an important band in the music scene right now. Mark our words, years from now collectors will be scrambling to have a copy of this as well as their whole discography. Their records keep getting better and better.
