King Underground Records is always pushing the envelope with its releases. Digging deeper and finding unique artists of all kinds for the label is something they have a knack for. It’s no surprise that their latest ace in the hole are all industry stalwarts who have been making music for quite some time on their own merits, now coming together as the group Other Mirror. Comprised of Johnny Cuba (Soundsci), vocalist Amelie Chevalier and multi-instrumentalist James Tilley, they’re here to open minds and elevate your body via their music. They accomplish that on this first single we hear from the band on KU “More Alive”
The feeling of an airy walk through the park, feeling good and free. This is the soundtrack to that day. “More Alive” is indeed a winner.
While the group has been making music since 2018, they’ll be debuting here on the King Underground with this release. Each member has a distinctive CV in music on their own, and as they come together and collaborate with this group, their individual strengths bond together to give us a tight and very creative release on their first for the label. Drawing heavily on a soulful vibe on “More Alive”, Chevalier’s vocals lure you in while the infectious bass grabs ahold of your arm harder and pulls you into the fray further. With vibes for days, Other Mirror captures a feeling on this track. The feeling of an airy walk through the park, feeling good and free. This is the soundtrack to that day. “More Alive” is indeed a winner. The full length comes out in April. We’re looking forward to hearing more of the grooves behind the mirror. Stream the single below, and purchase the track after the bandcamp stream. King Underground (with help from OM) has again given us more sauce for this musical meal.
